As any resident of California can tell you, just about every word out of Newsom’s mouth in this debate was a lie. Under his terms of office, the quality of life in California has declined tragically. As the charts showed, crime is up, far worse than Florida. Hundreds of thousands of locals who used to love downtown for music, theater, museums, no longer go there. It’s too dangerous. San Francisco is in worse shape than LA… as everyone knows. He was far, far worse than DeSantis during the Covid nonsense. Our lockdowns, and mask and vax mandates were tyrannical. California is ranked 38th for pre-K–12 education; Florida is ranked #1. Our schools were stupidly closed for two years during Covid. We tried to recall him, but most believe he cheated to defeat the recall. No one here thinks he has done a good job. He is the Biden of California.

San Francisco’s miserable decline on his watch is common knowledge. The streets are filled with drug-users, homeless people defecating in the streets, and shoplifting and carjackings are permitted. The police can do nothing—they are not allowed. Naturally, hundreds of businesses have closed. Newsom cleaned it up for China’s President Xi, and lined the streets with Chinese flags! Four hundred American CEOs gave Xi, a dictator of whom Mao would be proud, a standing ovation! What does that tell us? Our CEOs are amoral creeps who only care about money, not people; that they admire Xi is a sad commentary on U.S. corporations. Elon Musk was there of course.

Newsom is a pathological liar. Everything he claimed about California was a lie, as was what he said about Florida in his feeble attempt to slime DeSantis. Inflation at 3%! It’s more like 15% here. Our gas prices are the highest in the country. He lied about the sexualized and pornographic material that his party demands be in our elementary and middle schools—his wife produces some of that material.

    https://www.foxnews.com/politics/ga...mages-push-gender-ideology-boost-his-politics

He is owned by the teachers’ union. He lied about books he said are banned in Florida. Flat out lies. Florida has a sensible policy re: such material. Our streets are filled with blitzed transients, their tents, and their shopping carts filled with all manner of detritus. Many of them are aggressive, most are drug-addicted and/or mentally ill. But their rising numbers definitely affect the quality of life here which is why so many thousands are leaving for Florida or Texas. He pushes the whole panoply of green energy boondoggles that are meant only to control how we live, travel, eat, and work. Half of the EV charging stations in this state do not work.

Worst of all was Newsom’s defense of the Biden administration that has done incalculable damage to the nation. Eight to twelve million illegal aliens from countries all over the world, most of whom are military-age men, thousands from China and from Muslim nations that are Sharia-supremacist, have crossed into America. They are given phones, money, and shelter at a cost of $451 billion a year to American taxpayers. This is what the Biden administration that Newsom celebrates hath wrought. The Hamas attack of October 7th on Israel barely came up in the debate, enough for Newsom to pander and admit Hamas is a terrorist organization, but it’s a safe bet that like Biden, he speaks with a forked tongue and would happily stab Israel in the back behind the scenes. That is exactly what Biden and Blinken are doing. But the Hamas attack has exposed the vicious anti-Semitism that far too many of our university students have been taught to embrace by the leftists who control higher education. These pathetic young people chanting “from the river to the sea” seem to be oblivious as to what the chant means: the total annihilation of Israel and every last Jewish citizen. Then Newsom accused DeSantis of anti-Semitism! Florida probably has the largest Jewish population outside of NY; they’ve moved there for a variety of very good reasons. To accuse DeSantis of anti-Semitism was a particularly low and absurd blow. Newsom is a cad.

Tucker Carlson gave a speech in Las Vegas last week in which he said that “Newsom is the single most ruthless and evil person I’ve ever seen in politics.” Watching Newsom tonight proves Carlson is a very good judge of character. Newsom’s malevolent, self-serving nature came through loud and clear. DeSantis may not yet be presidential material but is a decent man who clearly loves his state and his country. Newsom only loves himself. God save us from him ever becoming anything beyond a failed governor of California

This is actually more proof all Fox "News" does is lie. Newsom made a fool of Desantis. And if he thought this would help his disastrous campaign he was sadly mistaken.

They agree with @pondee16 's remarks.

shooter will take the views of California residents over the rantings of an american hating Wyoming bullshit artist any day of the week if the subject is Newsome.

Actually, whatever the topic is. american hater's reputation precedes him.

      Subby has people in California.

They love Newsome, and really wish he’d run as a presidential candidate. Hell, so do I, not that it matters.

So, you know, your family v other Californian residents. The state makes its preference known.

I keep thinking to myself that I’m so disappointed that good people don’t run - anywhere, really. Here, there, across the pond. Out of the millions of people, this is the best we’ve got?

But I guess I’m not really surprised, given the wringer we put them through. We leave no space for anyone to be human, to misspeak, to make a mistake, to try something and see/hope it works. We expect our politicians to be all-seeing, all-knowing perfection.

Good, healthy, smart people know it’s impossible and don’t try to take that on.

Hahaha! DeSantis spanked Newsom like the CA governor was a lying, delinquent schoolboy. Didn't get that from the news - I got it from watching the debate. It's obvious to anybody that isn't deluding themselves.

PS: I was born, raised and still living in California, seeing Newsom's disastrous tenure - that has trashed this state - first hand - not like some who get their news from MSNBC and CNN.

I watched the debate, well not live but close to it.....a Fox News link on YouTube.

They both got some blows in, but for me the biggest slap was from the opening salvo from Newsom on DeSantis's policies of taking Florida back to the 1960s.
    https://www.vox.com/politics/2023/5/25/23736141/ron-desantis-2024-florida-legislature-policies

DeSantis's policies is also a slap in the face to Republicans who campaign for small government....and forget about Floridians 1st Amendment Rights, he won't be happy untill all Floridians have the "Ron DeSantis's handbook on what is allowed and not allowed in Florida"....a special note to all of the LGBTQ community...stay out, you're not welcome in The Sunshine State.

Really? Did Florida have the best US economy and lowest crime of all 50 states back in the 1960's as well???

Among the 50 U.S. states, Florida has ranked as the best economy for its residents, according to a report by CNBC on Thursday.

In its list, CNBC said that Florida’s economy is “white hot,” with overall growth being among the strongest in the nation.

The rest of the list ranks as follows:

    1. Florida
    2. Texas
    3. North Carolina
    4. Georgia
    5. Tennessee
    6. Utah
    7. South Carolina
    8. Idaho
    9. Indiana

Newsom's comments about regressing back to the 60's had nothing to do about that, as you well know.

They may have an A+ on the economy but they'd be dead last on inclusion and free speech ....he lost an argument with Mickey Mouse and wasted thousands of taxpayers dollars on doing so...he's introduced laws against the press criticizing him.

DeSantis's skin is even thinner than tRump's.

      Inclusion and free speech?
      Huh.
Hadn't noticed anyone in Florida being gagged.

      Oh.

You mean that teachers can't teach sex to 3rd graders?
Or that the state will not sanction antisemitism?

Have you checked to see what Key West is to the gay community?

      Perhaps you should.

Well, actually, it would be the despicables that would be losing their minds.

They've campaigned to put a woman in the oval office for decades.
      And failed.

Now, if the deplorables nominate Haley, and she's elected, it would mean the deplorables did, on their second attempt, what despicables have given lip service to for decades.

Have you noticed, by the way, that only the other deplorable candidates for President are being critical of Haley?

I just love the idiotic comments that people make about the politics of a state that they don't live in! You can immediately tell that their ignorance comes from watching to much bogus shit and not doing a thorough research!

The only thing Ron did to the LGBQT community is stop the transvestite shows. Which just got reversed. Which is fine because I thought he did go too far on that one. I thought he should limit the shows to adults only because they are a little provocative.

As far as the LGBQT community, they still have their own bars, there's still gay day at Disney & so on. Nothing changed. Oh and the whole don't say gay, well first of all that was blown out of proportion. Secondly, no govt should be involved in our sexual identity/preference. People should be able to live there lives how they want as long as it does not harm anyone. And that goes for children!!! That is all this bill is about, protecting our children, giving the parents the right to raise their children as they see fit. Not how the bidens want you to raise your children!

DeSantis is self conscious about his height, so he wears lifts in his shoes. It's very uncomfortable, so his walk is awkward and nobody can smile when their feet hurt.

Perhaps you would like to provide some examples and or evidence to support your claim.

That is unless you are just repeating false leftwing liberal talking points you read or hear someplace else.

As for Disney, they were getting special treatment for 50 years that NO other company was getting.

All DeSantis did was make them play by the same rules as everyone else. And like a brat child that has just had a toy taken away, Disney acted a fool and lost in court when THEY sued the state of Florida...

Unless you're in high school, nobody wins a debate.

The best one can hope for in a political debate is to not look pathetic and desperate.

Desantis missed that mark when he agreed to show up to debate someone who's not running against him.

Newsom knew he was walking into a rigged game when he agreed to debate DeSantis on Fox News moderated by Hannity. But probably had no idea of just how rigged it was going to be until a member of his team spotted the teleprompter pointed at DeSantis displaying the questions in advance.

Newsom camp: Hannity, DeSantis cheated. They dispute the charges.
The messy prime-time event outside Atlanta between Gavin Newsom and Ron DeSantis didn’t end when the Fox News cameras stopped. Newsom’s team says DeSantis and Fox broke several rules.

ALPHARETTA, Georgia — So much for that Newsom-Hannity bromance.

Thursday’s raucous debate is giving way to bitter disappointment with and outright hostility toward Fox News and its host from the California Democrat’s camp.

Before Ron DeSantis could unveil his “poop map,” Gov. Gavin Newsom team’s frustration with Sean Hannity and his crew centered on his promises to them that he would be a fair moderator, only to repeatedly sandbag the governor and give the entire affair a 2-on-1 dynamic — as they saw it.

“The debate was rigged, and Newsom still won,” Newsom adviser Sean Clegg said.

Newsom himself told people as the debate ended that he’d had fun — sharing that feeling on X where he added that he could have kept going for longer.

But the grievances from Newsom’s team inside the venue were just the start of the mass finger-pointing that followed the 95-minute melee late Thursday in the suburbs of Atlanta. Other alleged violations — of rules both written and understood — involve Ron DeSantis, the Republican Florida governor.

Watch the DeSantis vs. Newsom debate in 3 minutes

A DeSantis aide said California first partner Jennifer Siebel Newsom was the one who stepped in and ended the debate on her husband’s behalf after Hannity invited the two governors to go deeper into overtime. A second person on the ground confirmed that.

“Gavin Newsom got beat so badly last night his wife literally had to throw in the towel for him. It was embarrassing,” DeSantis spokesperson Andrew Romeo said.

An aide to Newsom who was in the room pushed back, saying both sides expressed a desire to go home after 95 minutes of TV mayhem.

“Ron didn’t want to do the debate anymore, either. Everyone shook hands and left,” said the Newsom aide, who was granted anonymity to relay closed-door exchanges.

DeSantis’ team said he would have wanted to continue debating, however, for as long as two hours — maybe even three hours.

More distrust and accusations were spilling out from the event. Hannity told Newsom staffers that both sides agreed not to bring props or graphics with them on stage — just a pen and pad of paper, they said. DeSantis’ camp says that wasn’t their understanding of the network’s rules, and DeSantis brandished allegedly lewd content permissible in California in a segment about book bans at schools.

The other document DeSantis flashed to great fanfare was a map of Newsom’s hometown of San Francisco covered in brown splotches that the Florida governor said represented places where human feces were found on the city’s streets.

“He carried around porn and poop in his suit jacket,” the Newsom aide said.

A Fox News spokesperson said “the word ‘props’ was never discussed ahead of the debate, not one time. The final agreement simply stated that neither side (Newsom or DeSantis) can use multimedia production. That was an issue about whether each side wanted to do a short production on what makes their individual states great at the start of the debate.”

Newsom’s staff said there also was a rule that Fox and Hannity wouldn’t use multimedia during the debate. They contend that was confirmed to them by Fox producers in the pre-debate walk-through a few hours before the event started. Hannity proceeded to show several graphics on screen — mostly unfavorable statistics about crime and other issues plaguing California. When confronted about the apparent bait-and-switch, a Fox producer shot back that, technically, the entire stage could be classified as multimedia, the Newsom aide said.

The Fox News spokesperson pointed out that Hannity was clear about his plans to use “full screens” and mentioned it numerous times ahead of the debate. On the day of the debate, the Fox spokesperson said, Newsom’s team specifically asked that no video sound bites be used, which was a last-minute request that was accommodated ahead of the debate.

The Florida governor’s staff said it was the Democrats who didn’t follow rules. A DeSantis aide accused Newsom staff of leaving the greenroom, another purported violation, another person said.

DeSantis staffers then decided to venture out, too.

Newsom’s side tells it differently. In their recounting, several of DeSantis’ aides ahead of the first commercial break — roughly 20 minutes into the debate — lined up near the bathroom. This included Florida first lady Casey DeSantis, who serves as a key political adviser to her husband. Ron DeSantis went over and was seen conversing with his wife. That would be another alleged violation of the rules, they said, that sought to prevent the candidates from getting advice in the middle of the debate.

“She was ready to coach him when his fake bathroom break happened,” the Newsom aide said. “Our guy never left the podium once. He didn’t take a bathroom break. We didn’t have any interaction with him the whole debate. He knew the rules and followed them.”

DeSantis is one matter. And post-debate spin is a time-honored tradition of political campaigns.

But there was a personal nature to Newsom’s issues with Hannity because of the way the conservative cable host claimed to be approaching his role and the lengths he had gone over several months to assuage their concerns.

As POLITICO previously reported, Hannity took on much of the negotiating with both Newsom and DeSantis staff given the debate’s importance to him. Newsom had predicted a 2-on-1 dynamic; a point that annoyed Hannity, who publicly and privately pledged fairness. “He needs to get over it,” Hannity said in an interview in the run-up to his debate.

Newsom still had some doubts about Hannity, but the host gave news media interviews where he said he would treat the governors as equals and expressed a genuine fondness for Newsom. The goodwill didn’t last. At one point after the debate, a Newsom adviser pulled a Fox staffer aside and took issue with the way the network conducted itself, said a witness of that exchange, who was granted anonymity to describe the confrontation.

Then there was a final fracas involving Hannity’s teleprompter. Newsom’s team went on record to air the complaint.

Newsom spokesperson Nathan Click said there was a teleprompter in DeSantis’ sight line — stage left — that revealed upcoming topics mid-debate. Newsom apparently didn’t notice it until much later in the evening.

“They promised during the walkthrough it would not be visible,” Click said. “Newsom himself saw it from the stage deep into the debate. A live cheat sheet. Newsom won this debate with both hands tied behind his back.”

The Fox spokesperson denied this, saying neither candidate was able to see any of the debate questions, either before or during the debate.

A confession from american hater that Newsome lost the debate.

If american hater thought newsome won he'd have been making the point that the non candidate whipped the candidate and there wouldn't be talk of cheating.

Instead we're treated to a full page of anonymous sources alleging the entire thing was rigged.

      American hater is so predictable.

'Huffing, snorting, lunging': Brutal review by former Bush official buries DeSantis debate

David Frum, a former speechwriter for President George W. Bush, has penned a brutal review of Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis' debate performance for The Atlantic.

Frum started off by describing DeSantis' performance as "an exercise in huffing, snorting, and lunging at an adversary" during his debate with California Gov. Gavin Newsom, and he questioned why he even agreed to go through with it in the first place.

In fact, Frum declared that there was simply no upside to DeSantis agreeing to debate Newsom at all -- and that's even if DeSantis delivered a knockout performance against the California Democrat.

"And, of course, DeSantis did not do well," Frum argued. "He is well informed and well prepared, but he’s just not as mentally nimble as Newsom, not as natural a television performer. He loses his composure easily."

Frum then speculated that DeSantis' ego, wounded by his perpetual inability to catch former President Donald Trump in the polls, led him to make a major strategic miscalculation.

"He feels a primal need to fight somebody, anybody, while he still can, if only to release some of the disappointment and resentment of his year-long political decline," Frum said. "And there’s Newsom, teasing and vexing him like a horse-mounted picador, in a prequel contest to the matador’s final coup de grâce. Of course, DeSantis shouldn’t lunge at him. But he must lunge at somebody."

You can always tell when the despicables feel they've failed or lost something or had their corruption pointed out to them.

Their pundits come out full swing bloviating, telling us what to think.
Course, the only people who even bother to read their bloviation are the loyal little despicable sheep who follow the agenda, bleating the official line.

    Not that it much matters.
Should Trump and Biden make the ballot, polls show that Trump will win, handily.
Should only Trump make the ballot, Trump will win, handily.
Should only Biden make the ballot, whoever the deplorables put up will win, handily.
Should neither Trump or Biden make the ballot, the deplorable candidate will win, handily.

All of this is of course what the polls say, subject to revision, but the fact remains; despicables have biden. Only biden.
They still refuse to consider alternatives even though it is clear that Biden will not make the ballot, and should he make that ballot, cannot win.

Reality can suck when your fantasy world begins to collapse.
