I have played many games, not just from this developer, but others as well. Is it becoming a norm to do 1 episode, chapter, version, etc. once a year? I do like it better when developers produce a little every 4 to 6 months. But the last time anything was put out for this one was December 8th of last year. I realize(as they say) that life happens, but if there life is that full or stressful or Chaotic then maybe game developing should be on the back burner for them. There is good stuff being put out, but by the time another episode is put out i forget what it was about and might have to start over. That not for me.

This week, I've continued to work on art.

I'm up to 6995 posed static renders - of which 308 are in the render queue.

I'm up to 389 posed animations - of which 66 animation files are in the render queue.

I also added Discord rich presence functionality for Episode 11 this week—I'm almost done with it.

I only have two scenes left to pose, and I estimate I need to pose a maximum of 150 renders before I'm done. I aim to complete this remaining art next week and continue working with Music/SFX and other coding tasks.

I can start polishing the episode within the next two weeks if all goes well.

Year 2024 have 18 days left, polishing starts in 14 days at the latest leaving 4 days for the task in worst case scenario. Fueled up with holiday spirit and egg nogg it shall be done. The "testing" time of 2 weeks that's been rumored will be canceled as DPC himself have mentioned to play through game many times looking for things to insert along the way - game is already functional. The issue were only the ambitious visuals. It's happening, December 2024 release!

Now it all depends on animations size, 66 this number is relative. If there are a couple of big animations then we are in deep trouble, if not - then it will be rendered in 6 weeks, the most important thing is that all PCs will be free to render animations. Same story as always, we are waiting for animations.

Well... for most, yep... and it goes most of the time like this... more time to delevop for LESS content.

DPC however does the opposit now... (and did so before)... it will take about 5-7 weeks more now to release the episode compared to the last one in total. But with 20% more renders and animations (so basically 20% more content). A tradeoff i can live with, though... i would prefer less animations so the episode could come out faster, but that would mean DPC has to work even faster and thats getting unheathly for him like it was during episode 8 DEV cycle.

Being a dik episodes get bigger with each update ... most other games? Less content for more time... so not like all the others.

So the total number of static renders would be 7150.

The good news is that there will be no more animations and this is the final figure. I'm guessing it's 7-8 weeks of rendering.
If it really is 8 weeks, the end of rendering is February 3.

The game will only come out in February if there is a 2 week beta. But considering that beta testing won't start until February, I'm 90% sure that the announcement will happen in early March when patreon charges start.
My bet is March 7th.

It doesn't really matter if it has 8 weeks of rendering. He can leave now for the holidays and not start polishing until January.

I think a lot will depend on what those animations are, but judging by the fact that there are still 66 of them, it's not 50 or even 58, I'm guessing the animation rate is the same as before -10 animations per week.
P.S. I wonder if there will be a Q&A section in February?
Will his patreons revolt? Will he explain anything?

If you noticed, DPC's "perfectionism" always renders wet or sweaty skin as oiled. So when you see apparently oiled skin you have to guess if it is just wetness from water, sweat or real oil (for Madame we can agree it's oil). To be fair, wetness takes some effort to be rendered in a decent way and few developers are able or willing to achieve that. He doesn't really care about this kind of details.

DPC showing characters sweating can't be considered his worst work. his "perfectionism" died the first time he showed characters with black teeth

(I still remember the first time I saw that thinking "Am I blind? Does she use bracers? No, her teeth are black)

But in average, he can render them at a speed of... hm 1,5 animation per day more or less. That would mean february. But iam optimistic too and will say january cause i think he can use all his PC power for the animations left now which will speed things up a litte. 308 still renders in the queue are done in a day.

I actually have a contradictory attitude about it. 7000 renders is 7000 divided into a huge number of branches and sub branches, accounting for all sorts of possibilities and variables. You won't see them in one pass.
You used to be able to see 3-4k renders in one playthrough, but now you have to replay an episode 5-6 times just to see the difference in a few phrases and scenes.

I guess 60 fps is more of an excuse. While the animations are rendering he can be busy scripting, coding, creating art, drinking, hunting, fishing, buying trinkets on amazon....
The second thing I'm more interested in. Will he risk splitting ep12 into two parts. This episode has been in development for a year and a half, he said earlier he was thinking about it. Will he start planning the next episode with a 2-part split in mind or will he use polls as the best way to manipulate public opinion?

The statics should be rendered in a week at worst, then it will be a full on struggle for the animations.

Beta took 2,5 weeks last time, it won't take less than 3 with a update this huge.

Even if all animations are quite short I doubt a January release would be possible considering thw Beta periodo.

DPC average is already quite lower than 1 animation per day considering he started EP 11 animation work while EP10 was still on Beta.

The render queue should only finish by very late january, anything faster would be a miracle.

Being a DIK fans don't get those...

Note that not all his PCs are dedicated to animations as of today. Once he finished rendering still renders (which will be done rather quickly), he'll probably use mutliple PCs to render animations (let me cope ok?)

Now I get it. Given that the development timeline is now 15-18 weeks, I think episode 12 will be the final episode that will finalize all the major lines and conflicts.
Season four:
1) Either will be incomplete and consist of 2 episodes and therefore will be sold as a DLC
2) It will be an epilogue to the main game. MC has chosen his girlfriend and defeated all the enemies, the remaining 2 episodes will focus on MC's life after the main story ends.

It says what it says. Episode 12 would end season 3 and there would be a fourth season sold separately, as 2 and 3 were.

S2 and S3 are already counted as DLC on Steam, that's how he calls them. S4 will be a full season
